SAP is one of the largest software companies in the world. They are based out of Germany but have a strong worldwide presence in ERP. SAP is best known for their SAP R/3 solution designed for the largest businesses in the world including Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, 3M, Ebay, and many more. SAP prides itself on being the leader in Fortune 500 company ERP solutions.
SAP’s lesser known product for the Small and Midsize Business (SMB) market is called SAP Business One. Based on a Microsoft SQL Server platform, SAP Business One provides a complete ERP solution with a scalable license model.
Unlike some other ERP solutions, SAP Business One comes complete with all the essential modules that you would need to implement ERP. While not all of the modules are required to be implemented, they come linked together so that post-go-live implementation of other modules is seamless.
This is a slightly newer product in the SMB market and while that typically leads to a smaller client base, it also adds the benefit of newer technology with more flexibility. This is an excellent product to work with if you need an ERP system to bend towards your business as it provides a high level of configuration that can be done within the system interface with minimal support from a developer.
P.S. I would strongly recommend that you purchase the Boyum Usability Package to extend the functionality of SAP Business One. http://www.boyum-it.com/usability-package/
